Energy Efficiency
Enviroflame uses several key technologies in its innovative water heater design. Forced air burner technology by Vitotherm creates a clean and complete combustion. An Autoflame digital burner control system maintains the efficient combustion at low fire and on every point on the combustion curve to high fire. In addition, our proprietary exhaust heat capture system captures exhaust heat and redirects it back into the heating process, thereby increasing efficiency and reducing greenhouse emissions.
We estimate that the EF310 generates fuel savings in the range of $4,000 to $8,000 CDN per day, depending on fuel type, location and flow rates.
Yes. The EF270’s industry-leading 95% thermal heating efficiency results in reduced fuel consumption and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The EF270 direct contact water heater reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 40% compared to competing high-volume water heaters on the market.
Input BTU is the theoretical amount of heat a fuel type can generate with 100% clean combustion. Output BTU is the actual amount of heat generated during combustion and transferred to the water being heated. The overall thermal heating efficiency of a water heater is determined by the efficiency of fuel combustion plus the efficiency of the heat actually transferred into the water. Many people believe input and output BTU are the same thing, which is a common misconception in our industry.
Operator
Operator Considerations
No, our heaters are non-pressurized. No special operator certificates are required and no annual regulatory inspections are required either.
Each Enviroflame frac fluid super heater comes with one day of on-site operator training by Enviroflame’s qualified technicians. Additional on-site training can also be arranged. In addition, we offer remote operator training utilizing remote monitoring equipment included on all of our industrial high-volume water heaters.
Yes, we have a fully operational heater at our fabrication facility in Lethbridge, Alberta, for testing and demonstration purposes. Please contact us to arrange a demonstration.
In harsh winter oilfield conditions, water heater systems and functions are controlled from a heated and dry control room. The operator can remain comfortable and attentive while on shift. This increases operator safety and contributes to employee retention.
No, Enviroflame’s industrial water heaters are simple to operate with automated systems controlled via touch screen in a heated control room. Operators simply enter heating parameter setpoints into the control panel HMI touch screen and the heater will automatically adjust fuel inputs and water flows to achieve the desired setpoints.
Many oilfield water heaters are updraft burner types that can allow the burner flame to extend out the exhaust stack or to backdraft through the intake. This creates the potential for fires, human burns, or gas release. With the Enviroflame direct fired water heater, the flame is completely enclosed, so the burner flame cannot extend out the exhaust stack or backdraft through the intake. The exhaust side of the water heater is under a constant water shower and the air intake side has air louvres that close to prevent ambient gases from entering the system in a shutdown situation.
Fuel
Fuel Capabilities
Our innovative, energy-efficient burner allows the heater to run efficiently on propane, natural gas and diesel. Operators can switch between fuels with the turn of a switch.
Our energy-efficient industrial water heaters can be run on propane, natural gas and diesel. Full BTU output can be achieved utilizing any of the three fuels. No competing industrial water heater can achieve this.
Transportation
Heater Transportation and Set Up
No, our heaters are fully-functional, self-sufficient mobile units that are ready for operation within minutes of arriving on site. There is no need for cranes, extra pumps, remote power generation or office trailer.
Currently we are installing them into customized, 40-foot sea containers with comfortable control offices and air ride chassis trailers. Other integration options include skid shacks, highway van trailers, permanent indoor buildings and a multitude of other options depending on the specific needs of the customer.
Additional FAQ
Additional FAQs
No, while our energy efficient water heaters are great for oilfield use, like frac water heating, they have applications in any industry that requires efficient, high-volume water heating. Lightweight, compact design, allows our heaters to be flexible for many uses, both indoors and outdoors.
We provide one day of on-site training with each purchase. Additional training can be arranged and can be either on-site or remote via remote monitoring equipment included on each heater. We also have service technicians available 24/7 for technical support, field visits or remote diagnostics, analysis and troubleshooting.
Yes, our energy-efficient water heaters are designed and built to withstand the extreme and remote conditions expected of oilfield activity in Canada. All Enviroflame heaters are manufactured in Lethbridge, Alberta. All tank and piping components are manufactured to Canadian Welding Bureau standards.
No, all of our industrial, high-volume water heaters are self-priming and self-draining for winter operations. In addition, if outside circumstances cause heating delays, unlike our competition’s heaters, our unit does not have to be drained or pigged to prevent freezing.
Every Enviroflame industrial, high-volume water heater meets Canadian B149 code safety requirements. B149 gas code requirements came into force on January 1, 2016. They apply to all mobile gas fired appliances used in oilfield activity. While enforcement of B149 is expected in the near future, there is no guarantee that old, non-compliant industrial water heater technology will be grandfathered in.
